German biathlon champion Laura Dahlmeier died in a climbing accident at a remote site on a mountain in northern Pakistan. Dahlmeier was struck by falling rocks on Monday while ascending Laila Peak in the Karakoram mountain range with a partner, who survived.

More than 1.5 million Afghan refugees have been forced out of Iran this year, with over a million more at risk of deportation, according to international aid groups.
